Age Verification

Vape Up UK is strictly 18+. Every order is age-verified before it's dispatched. This page explains why we check, how the check works, and what happens if it doesn't go through.

Why we verify age

In the UK it is illegal to sell nicotine vaping products to anyone under 18. It is also an offence for an adult to buy them on behalf of someone under 18. As an online retailer, the legal responsibility for preventing underage sales sits with us.

UK Trading Standards guidance says that asking customers to confirm their age, or ticking a box, isn't enough on its own. The "Are you 18 or over?" message you see when you first visit is just a notice. The real check happens on your order.

How the check works

We use OneID, a UK age verification service that confirms your age using your bank.

  1. At checkout, OneID runs a quick background check using the details you've already entered. Most customers are verified automatically and won't notice anything.
  2. If your age can't be confirmed automatically, you'll be asked to verify after checkout by securely logging in to your UK online banking through OneID. Your bank confirms that you're over 18. It takes about a minute.
  3. Once you're verified, your order is packed in Manchester and sent tracked.

Your bank login details are entered with your bank, never with us. We don't see them, and we don't see your balance or transactions. We only receive confirmation of whether you're over 18.

What if verification fails?

If we can't confirm that you're 18 or over, or the verification isn't completed, your order is cancelled and refunded in full to your original payment method.

A few tips to avoid problems:

  • Use your own name, billing address and payment card.
  • If you're asked to verify with your bank, complete it as soon as possible so your order isn't delayed.
  • If you don't have UK online banking, or you're having trouble, contact us before ordering and we'll help.

Your data

We use your details only to confirm your age and fulfil your order. OneID processes the age check on our behalf. Full details of how we handle your information are in our Privacy Policy.
