Shortfills are the best-value liquid format in UK vaping and the most misunderstood. Here's the whole picture, plus the ranges we'd actually spend our own money on in 2026.

What a shortfill is (and why it exists)

UK law caps nicotine-containing bottles at 10ml — so manufacturers sell larger bottles (usually 50ml) with zero nicotine and space at the top. You add an 18–20mg "nic shot" to reach roughly 3mg overall, or vape it nicotine-free as-is. One 50ml bottle costs less than the equivalent five 10ml bottles every time — that's the entire trick.

Who shortfills are for

Two groups: sub-ohm and DTL vapers, whose kits drink liquid fast enough that 10ml bottles become absurd; and 0mg vapers tapering off nicotine, for whom shortfills are practically the only format that makes sense. The honest caveats

Shortfill maths only works if you actually vape 50ml before it degrades — buy variety in smaller counts if you're a light user. Steeping matters: a freshly shaken shot needs a day or two to blend properly. And 3mg is the natural ceiling of the format — you can't shortfill your way to a 20mg experience. 18+ only.
